After months of preparation – you’re off!! Board your flight from QLD to Melbourne and let the journey begin. After landing, head straight up to the MCG for a guided tour of the hallowed grounds and the Australian Sports Museum. After lunch you will be joined by a local guide to take your group on a city walking tour – exploring Melbourne’s iconic landmarks, colourful laneways, arcades, street art, parks and history – learning how Melbourne became the cultural capital it is today!

On a daytrip to Ballarat, step back in time and experience Australia’s historic gold rush! You will visit Sovereign Hill, one of the country’s most popular open-air museums, stretching out to form an entire town amidst Ballarat. Recreating the enchanting first ten years in Ballarat after gold was first discovered in the region’s bushland during the early 1850s. After much fun and exploring the fascinating gold rush history at Sovereign Hill, you will visit the Eureka Stockade Centre. The Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka was a museum dedicated to democracy, located at the site of the Eureka Rebellion.

Waking for an early departure, today we hit the road for the trip to the nation’s capital. Make sure you bring a good book, or some travel games to keep you company! Stops along the way will include Glenrowan (the scene of Australia’s most famous showdown between the bushranger, Ned Kelly),  the Ned Kelly Museum & Homestead, the Murray River (on the border of Victoria and NSW), Holbrook Submarine and the ‘Dog on the Tuckerbox’ famous statue near Gundagai.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast before heading into central Canberra for the first time. Visit the Australian War Memorial where you will undertake a guided tour to learn more around Australia’s role in WW1. Next stop is the Parliamentary Triangle where you will partake in educational programmes at both the Museum of Australian Democracy & National Electoral Education Centre. The final stop of the day is Parliament House where students will gain a better understanding of the political system before heading back to the accommodation.

Begin the day with a visit to the Royal Australian Mint where you will learn about the role currency has played in Australia’s history and have the opportunity to make your own coin! Enjoy lunch by the Molongo River before exploring the impressive National Portrait Gallery & the High Court of Australia. There are many fantastic evening activities to keep your students engaged and visiting the “Q” (Questacon) is an absolute must!

Start the day at the Australian Institute of Sport where an Olympian will take you on a guided tour of the impressive facilities. You will learn what it takes to become a champion at the home of Australian sporting excellence. With some inspiration in toe, head over to the National Arboretum for some lunchtime sport amidst a magnificent backdrop before finishing the day with a visit to the fascinating National Museum of Australia.
