Parliament and Civics Education Rebate
When travelling to Canberra with your students, you are able to apply for the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate – PACER. This rebate is to promote students to travel to the nation’s capital to further their learning outside the classroom. It provides a subsidy to students across Australia from years 4-12. The rebate rates are sorted out per student basis according to their distance travelled. Download the PACER PDF for information on distance criteria zones, eligibility and requirements, and the enrolment form.
The program, offered to students across the nation, allows them to participate and see how our country is run and how it has developed through history and politics.
With the program you must visit a few sights to be eligible for the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate, these include The Museum of Australian Democracy and or/ the National Electoral Education Centre at Old Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial and an educational tour of Parliament House and where possible a role play in the Parliamentary Education Office. The lessons and tours shown at each of these wonderful facilities aligns with the Australian Curriculum, which allows the students to relate it back to their studies within the classroom.
